‘GET-SET-GO' and get active with Stratford District Council!
If you are aged 45 or over – we want you!
Regular exercise keeps your heart healthy and reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, and risks associated with obesity. It also improves the appearance of your skin and muscle tone. Doing exercise releases the chemicals endorphins and serotonin, which improve your mood and make you more able to cope with pain.
It's well known that regular physical activity may contribute to reducing your risk of coronary heart disease, strokes, some cancers, obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, dementia and other mental health problems. We will help you by getting you on the right track and motivating you to keep up the good work.
Just 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day on 5 or more days of the week is enough to get fitter, healthier and happier.
Your Sports Development Team is here to support you – we have developed a range of activities, which include:
• ‘GET Active' sports and activity sessions held at a selection of local leisure centres; • ‘SET the pace' free guided health walks in market towns throughout the district, and; • ‘GO Green' exercise initiatives which combine gardening on allotments and vegetable patches with raising awareness of healthy eating.
By joining us, it's a way for you to enjoy your community or explore the countryside surrounding your home, try something new, get out and about, be sociable and meet new people, and most importantly, have fun!
