Welcome to the Stratford-on-Avon District Council Housing Section.
In 1996, Stratford-on-Avon District Council transferred all its council housing to the South Warwickshire Housing Association (SWHA), who have since merged with the Orbit Housing Group to become Orbit Heart of England, and who are now responsible for the maintenance, safety and security of these properties.
Although we no longer have any Council houses, housing issues are of great concern to us. We still work closely with housing associations and offer advice and help to those who need it.
Housing Advice
The District Council's responsibilities under the Housing Act 1996 include giving housing advice free of charge. In the Stratford-on-Avon District Council area this service is provided by the in-house Housing Advice Team.
Home Choice Plus
If you would like to be considered for a housing association property in this District, either to rent or to buy on a shared ownership basis, you must join Home Choice Plus (formerly known as the Housing Waiting List).
Housing & Council Tax Benefits
Mainstream Housing and Council Tax Benefit is a source of help to low income households. In some circumstances you may qualify to have 100% of your rent and Council Tax paid for you.
