Stratford-on-Avon District Empty Homes Strategy 2012-2015 for Consultation
Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Empty Homes Strategy has been developed to steer the work of the District Council until 2015.
It is important that our customers and the business community is given the opportunity to respond to the draft Strategy and we would like to invite you to feedback your views and comments. To enable this click on the following link which will take you to a copy of the draft Strategy, delivery plan and a short questionnaire for your comments.
Empty Homes Strategy Consultation
Please note that the closing date for responses is 11 June 2012.
There are approximately 800 empty residential properties in the district. Properties that are left unoccupied for long periods of time can cause problems for the local community and their owners. We work alongside owners to reduce the number of empty properties within the district but also need your help in telling us about empty properties in your area so that appropriate action can be taken.
Empty properties can have a detrimental effect on the surrounding community where they are left in a poor condition. Such properties can attract crime and anti social behaviour including fly-tipping, vandalism and unauthorised entry. Structural dilapidation and damp can have an impact on neighbouring properties, devaluing them through their poor state of repair.
There are many benefits to both owners of empty homes and the community in properties being brought back into use.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council has a dedicated Empty Homes Team to provide advice and support to help owners bring their properties back into use. The Council is committed to tackling empty homes to increase the availability of much needed housing across the district.
This site provides information to owners, the community and other interested individuals and agencies on the subject of private sector empty homes, highlighting the impact upon the community and the various solutions and enforcement tools available.
