The private sector housing stock in the Stratford-on-Avon District accounts for over 46,600 properties providing accommodation for over 103,800 people. Its condition and use is of vital importance to the health, quality of life and well being of our residents and to the visual appearance and economic prosperity of the District.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council has a role to ensure that housing in the private sector is in good condition and safe and healthy for its occupants. It does this by providing help and support to homeowners, landlords and tenants living in private housing. Stratford-on-Avon District Housing Strategy 2009-2014 outlines the aim and objectives of the Council for private sector housing across the district.
Empty Homes
There are approximately 800 empty residential properties in the district. Properties that are left unoccupied for long periods of time cause problems for the local community and their owners.
