Food hygiene regulations state that all food handlers should receive appropriate supervision and instruction/training in food hygiene that should enable them to handle food safely in line with their work activity.
Although there is no legal requirement for food handlers to go on a formal training course or obtain an accredited qualification, many businesses will want their staff to have such training.
The Food Hygiene Certificate Level 1 or 2 will be sufficient for most small businesses.
