Over the last year, the Council has been successful in attracting substantial grants to help improve carbon emissions in homes. In total SDC has received approx. £5.5m funding for retrofitting housing to provide for energy efficiency and low carbon technology. In addition, through Act on Energy 295 EcoFlex grants have been provided to residents, predominantly for fuel poverty, but many with carbon reduction benefits as well. During August a further substantial bid to the Sustainable Warmth Fund has been submitted.
In 2023, the District Council received the Sustainable Warmth funding, which was used to deliver Home Upgrade Grant and Local Delivery Scheme. The Council, alongside its delivery partners, successfully delivered 45 energy efficient measures for residents across the District. These were:
Loft insulation: 11
Cavity wall insulation: 4
Heating controls: 3
Solar Photovoltaic panels: 25
Hot water tank insulation: 2
On 2 October 2023, The Cabinet agreed to engage in the Home Upgrade Grant 2 (HUG2) Programme, which is now in delivery until March 2025. See below for the report and related documents:
