Changes to the Complaints Procedure
The responsibility for considering complaints that a Councillor may have breached the Code of Conduct has moved to the Standards and Ethics Committee of the Council. However, the Standards Board for England will continue to oversee councillor conduct in local government.
What this means to you
If you want to complain about the conduct of a Councillor of the District Council or a Councillor of one of our Parish or Town Councils, you must submit your complaint to:
The Monitoring Officer
Stratford-on-Avon District Council
Elizabeth House
Church Street
Stratford-upon-Avon
Warwickshire
CV37 6HX
either by using the Council's Standards and Ethics' Complaint Form, or by submitting details in a letter. The Standards and Ethics' Complaint Form, on the right of this page, is available to view or download, is available as a paper copy in Reception at Elizabeth House, or a copy can be obtained by writing to the Monitoring Officer, or by phoning 01789 260603. If you are unable to complete the form, please phone the above number for assistance.
The Monitoring Officer will report the matter to the Standards and Ethics (Local Assessment) Sub-Committee. However, this Sub-Committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a Councillor. It will not deal with complaints about things that are not covered by the Councillors' Code of Conduct, for example, complaints about a service.
The District Councils' Code of Conduct document and the Parish Councils' Code of Conduct document, on the right of this page, are available to view and can be downloaded. A copy of the Parish Council's Code of Conduct may also be obtained from your Parish Clerk.
