Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Independent Remuneration Panel
Background
The Council established its current Independent Remuneration Panel for Stratford-on-Avon in December 2007, comprising of 4 independent members of the public.
The Council is required under the Local Authorities (Members' Allowance) (England) Regulations 2003 and subsequent amendments to establish and maintain an Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) to review and make recommendations to the Council on the range and levels of remuneration for elected Members.
Under the Regulations the Council is required to undertake a full review every 4 years. The previous review was undertaken in December 2003.

Terms of Reference
The role of the Independent Remuneration Panel is to make recommendations to the Council about allowances to be paid to Councillors.
The Council must have regard to the recommendations and advice of the Panel in determining the level of allowances payablet reports containing recommendations to the Council.
Latest Report of the Panel
The Panel met during January 2008 and published its report on 14 February 2008. The report and the Panel's recommendations were considered by the Council meeting on Monday 25 February 2008.
The Panel will undertake a review of the Members Allowance Scheme in January 2008.
