Background
The Council established its current Independent Remuneration Panel for Stratford-on-Avon in December 2007, comprising of 4 independent members of the public.
The Council is required under the Local Authorities (Members' Allowance) (England) Regulations 2003 and subsequent amendments to establish and maintain an Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) to review and make recommendations to the Council on the range and levels of remuneration for elected Members.
Under the Regulations the Council is required to undertake a full review every 4 years. Currently, annual reviews are undertaken. The last review was undertaken in January 2008.

The existing Panel comprises:

Trustee of VASA and Vice Chairman of SoA Local Strategic Partnership

Terms of Reference
The role of the Independent Remuneration Panel is to make recommendations to the Council about allowances to be paid to Councillors.
The Council must have regard to the recommendations and advice of the Panel in determining the level of allowances payable.
Latest Report of the Panel
The Panel met during March 2011 and published its report in April 2011. The report and the Panel's recommendations were considered by the Council meeting in July 2011.
