The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) is an independent person who investigates allegations of maladministration which causes injustice to the person who has complained.
The Ombudsman investigates complaints about most council matters including housing, planning and council tax.
The Local Government Ombudsman has a leaflet called "Complaint about the Council? How to complain to the Local Government Ombudsman". You can get a copy by telephoning or writing to the address below, or you can download it from the Ombudsman's website.

The Annual Review is a report that the Local Government Ombudsman sends this Council. It gives details of our performance in dealing with complaints submitted to them and also provides us with information to help us improve our handling of complaints.

Also included with the Annual Review is a Summary of Statistics relating to the complaints the LGO received and investigated concerning our services.

In addition, the Standards and Ethics Committee has approved that Summaries of ongoing Ombudsman Complaints can be registered on the Council's website. Consequently, current and previous reports are available to view or download from the link on the right of this page.
