The Council's policy acknowledges that climate change is a fact, and that the increases in the earth's temperature over the last 100 years which have lead to climate change cannot be reversed. Climate change will impact on us all, and in accord, every organisation and individual has a part to play in combating it.
The Council will work in partnership with other organisations, including Local Agenda 21 and Warwickshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, to seek to address issues that contribute to climate change.
Through its work the Council will seek to:
1. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions including:
a. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions through Home energy conservation
b. Reducing energy use by SDC
c. Reducing council transport-related emissions
d. Reducing emissions from transport
2. Encourage the provision and use of energy from renewable sources
3. Raise public awareness of the issues of Climate Change
4. Adapt to meet the effects of climate change.
