Further details of the Council’s Publication Scheme can be viewed in or downloaded from the Freedom of Information section of this website.
The Data Protection Act deals with access to personal information. It exists to ensure that this information is subject to appropriate safeguards in the manner in which it is used.
The Council has a Data Protection Act 1998 Code of Practice. This Code of Practice sets out the Data Protection principles which the Council is legally obliged to adhere to, and the conditions relating to the usage of personal data. Personal data can be in automated or in manual form and the Code therefore covers records stored on a computer, as well as on manual files.
