Kineton

The first recorded reference to Kineton was in AD 969, when Saxon King Edgar granted some land here to a trusted counsellor. It is listed in the Domesday Book as one of the few areas in Warwickshire designated 'King Land' and it is from this royal heritage that the name Kineton (Kingstown) is derived. St Peter's Church in the centre of the village is a fine example of Norman architecture although it has been extensively altered and extended in more recent times.
