Local authorities have powers under the Clean Air Act 1993 and under the statutory nuisance provisions within the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Part III, to deal with emissions to air from industrial premises. The exception is where activities carried on at these industrial premises are prescribed for control under the Pollution Prevention and Control regime described under that heading on the link on the right.
