Environmental crime is a type of anti-social behaviour which affects the quality of life of the community and environment in which it occurs, and can increase the fear of crime.
Examples or environmental crime are listed below; please report any incidents to Streetscene by telephoning 01789 260616, by fax on 01789 260607, or by emailing streetscene@stratford-dc.gov.uk
Flyposting
This is the illegal posting of advertisements, leaflets etc on both Council owned and Private land and property. It is up to private landowners to clear fly posters from their land. For information on flytipping please visit our Waste Management page.
Graffiti
Graffiti defaces the environment and detracts from the ambience and architecture of the area. The Council will work to have instances of graffiti removed in order to maintain the appearance of the District and reduce the fear of crime.
Littering
This is unslightly and portrays a poor image for both visitors and residents. A Street Cleansing service, inlcuding litter picking is provided, details of which can be found by viewing the Street Cleansing page of this website. The fine for littering can be up to £2500, with the average fine being around £95.
Syringes
Needles, syringes and other drug related items (clinical waste) discarded in public places are a threat to public safety and are removed by the Council.
If you have clinical sharps please do not put them in with your household waste. Please contact the Council for further information on how to dispose of these items.
Vandalism
Measures such as CCTV are in place to reduce incidences of vandalism in the area.
For more information, or for information on other types of environmental crime such as dog fouling and noise pollution, please visit the links on the right hand side.
If you see any incidents of environmental crime or anti-social behaviour please report it to the District Council, and help keep crime and the fear of crime down, and maintain the appearance of the District.
