The Pest Control Service treats the following pests:
There is a 75% discount for all people in receipt of a means tested benefit.
We do not treat the following 'pests'. However if you click on the appropriate link an advice leaflet is available to download. (these 'pests' may be treated by outside pest control companies whose telephone numbers may be found in either local papers or the 'Yellow Pages'):
Council Pest Control Officers only treat for pests of serious public health significance, such as rats and certain disease carrying insects.
Rats can be particularly unsettling due to their possible transmission of diseases. In the case of rats and insects of public health significance, the Council will normally deal with these pests within 10 working days at no charge to households. If there are rats in your house, we will try to get there to treat by the following working day.
If contacting the Council please try to indicate whether the rats are arising on your own land, over which you have control, or from another person's land, as the Pest Control Officer may need to gain access to these premises too.
Other pests causing concern are mice, wasps and animal fleas and these too may be dealt with for a fee. (Costs are specified below.) However, where there is a high demand on the officers' time to deal with high priority pests of public health significance, the services may be suspended.
Pest Control services can be arranged by telephoning 01789 260814 during normal working hours, where our staff will provide advice and will take details for an appointment. It is important that you are ready with a telephone number where our Pest Control Officer can contact you between 8am and 10am to arrange a visit. Alternatively you can contact us by email at pest.control@stratford-dc.gov.uk
Officers call by prior appointment and apply approved treatments. If, for any reason, the problem persists, they will return and make every effort to ensure the pest is eradicated.
