Please note you will be asked to pay for any treatment that incurs a charge at the time of reporting it.
The Pest Control Service treats the following pests:
- Rats - £80 + VAT where outside your house eg in your garden but free if the rats are inside your home
- Mice - £80 + VAT for domestic premises. This is for a maximum of 3 visits, where necessary, to control that infestation
- Wasps - £81 + VAT
- Animal Fleas in domestic premises - £81 + VAT
- Flies in domestic house lofts only - £81 + VAT
- Squirrels in domestic house lofts only - £80 + VAT
- Carpet Beetles in domestic premises - £81 + VAT
- Clothes Moths in domestic premises - £81 + VAT
- Certain insects of public health significance such as bedbugs and cockroaches in domestic premises will be treated free of charge
There is a callout fee of £25 + VAT for abortive visits that do not fall within the above parameters. This also applies to 'advise only' visits.
All of the above charges (with the exception of squirrel treatments) are reduced to £30 + VAT for persons in receipt of benefit.
We do not treat the following 'pests'. However if you click on the appropriate link an advice leaflet is available to download. (these 'pests' may be treated by outside pest control companies whose telephone numbers may be found in either local papers or the 'Yellow Pages'):
Rats can be particularly unsettling due to their possible transmission of diseases. In the case of rats and insects of public health significance, the Council will normally deal with these pests within 10 working days. If there are rats in your house, we will try to get there to treat by the following working day.

Treatments for vermin or insects coming into your premises can only be undertaken on your land. We may not go onto your neighbours land without their permission.
Commercial Premises
Rats - £80 + VAT per treatment visit.
Rodent control contracts for rats and mice on farms and other commercial premises or large warehouses start at £450 + VAT for 10 visits per year. The 10 regular visits are carried out between September and June each year to check and lay bait as necessary to ensure you are infestation free. If a problem develops you can call us and we will visit and deal with it without a charge.
The basic £450 + VAT contract is normally suitable for shops, small warehouses and small to medium sized farms.
