Stratford-on-Avon District Council provide a recycling service for waste paper, magazines, yellow pages, glass bottles and jars, food and drinks cans, cardboard, plastic bottles, cartons, foil and household plastic packaging. This is carried out on the same days as for your refuse collection but on a fortnightly basis.
Household plastic packaging includes yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, fruit punnets, microwave trays etc but not film, cling film or carrier bags. Please ensure all recyclable items are clean. Unfortunately we cannot take flower pots.
The materials should be put in your blue lidded bin. As an alternative you can take waste materials for recycling to one of our local Mini Recycling Centres.
The material will be collected from each property boundary (nearest the road). Your bin should be available for emptying by 6am on your normal collection day.
If you have not received a blue lidded bin or are experiencing any operational difficulties please contact us using the details proivided at the bottom of this page.
What happens to your material after it has been collected?
Glass bottles and jars go to make new bottles and jars or are ground down to make a fine aggregate for use in concrete or in bitumen road surfacing. Bottle making is the preferred options so some of our material in exported to Europe for this use.
For more information on what happens to your material, please visit our recycling partners Pure Recycling for an in depth look at the recycling process. Or you can watch our appearance on Blue Peter showing how the material is processed through the recycling centre.
