Tysoe Parish, in the south of Stratford District, covers an area from the flat agricultural landscape of the Vale of the Red Horse rising steeply up the Edgehill escarpment. The Vale takes its name from the large Red Horse of Tysoe which was once cut into the red ironstone soil of Edgehill.
The village of Tysoe is made up of three small hamlets. Upper Tysoe has a 14 Century manor house, Middle Tysoe has a fine church with Norman and Saxon features. Lower Tysoe was formerly held by the Templars of Balsall.
