The Private Sector Housing Team is responsible for investigating complaints about the condition of living accommodation. This includes houses owned by registered Social Landlords, although complaints about this sort of property should be made, in the first instance, to the housing managers who are employed by these organisations to look after their houses.
Problems encountered might include disrepair, dampness, lack of facilities, lighting, ventilation, inadequate heating and a wide range of other things.
If you are a tenant, we recommend that you should always let your landlord know that there is a problem, in order to give him/her the chance to put it right. You should also make a note of the details and the date you made the complaint. If you do not receive a satisfactory response, you can ask the Council to consider taking action.
If you wish to make a complaint about a property, you can contact us in writing at the Council offices at Elizabeth House, or by telephoning 01789 260848, or by emailing housing@stratford-dc.gov.uk. Please provide your name, address and telephone number. This will remain confidential, but will enable us to contact you for more information if an appointment is required, and will also allow us to tell you what is to be done.
For further information please contact Environmental Protection Team on 01789 260848 or by email at housing@stratford-dc.gov.uk.
