Graffiti on public property is unsightly and is considered to be vandalism. It lowers the environment quality of an area, encourages other environmental crime and can increase the fear of crime.
What we do
The Council removes graffiti from public areas and public buildings in order to maintain the appearance of the District .
How quickly will the graffiti be removed?
Our target is to remove any racist, sexist or offensive graffiti within 24 hours of notification. Other graffiti is removed as soon as we are able to, subject to resources being available.
How do I get graffiti removed from private property?
It is the property owners responsibility to remove graffiti from their property. Warwickshire County Council are responsible for the majority of roadbridges in the district and the rail companies are responsible for railway bridges.
Removing graffiti
If you would like to help us to tackle graffiti or would like to remove graffit from your own property, there are a wide range of graffiti removal products available on the market. Some options include:
Painted Surfaces/Paint Over - Painting over graffiti is a cheap, quick and non-damaging solution. Do not use paint remover, thinners, white or metholated spirits these will attack the base paint.
Timber Fencing - In some cases, it is possible to sand down the surface and re-stain or re-paint.
Glass / metal surfaces / plastic - White spirit or metholated spirt should remove most paints and marker pen ink. Do not use abrasive materials or cleaners.
