Housing Advice

The District Council's responsibilities under the Housing Act 1996 include giving housing advice free of charge. In the Stratford-on-Avon District Council area this service is provided by the in-house Housing Advice Team. The Team is based at Elizabeth House in Stratford-upon-Avon and runs weekly surgeries at the Southam, Shipston and Alcester area offices.

New housing

The Housing Advice Team is responsible for running the Common Housing Register on behalf of housing associations in the District. The Team also assists people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and offers advice and assistance on a range of issues, such as tenancy rights and obtaining privately rented accommodation in the area.
