All recyclable material should be put in your blue-lidded bin.
This bin is collected every other week with your green / green-lidded bin.
Garden and food waste should be put in your green/green lidded Bin.
This bin is collected every other week with your blue-lidded bin.
Other household waste that cannot be recycled or composted shoud be put in your grey bin.
This bin is collected every other week, on alternate weeks to the recycling / garden and food waste collections.
First, Replacement and Additional Bins
If you need a first or replacement wheeled bins or would like to be considered for additional capacity, please contact us.
Please note, wheeled bins are provided only if appropriate and are subject to availability. Alternative receptacles may be offered.
First, additional (second) and replacement bins incur a one-off charge of £35 in line with the Council's current Fees & Charges Schedule. Exceptions are; where residents are on Housing / Council Tax Benefits or where the contractor is responsible for damaging or removing the wheeled bin during collection.
Any subsequent recollection or exchange of wheeled bins following delivery may incur a one-off charge of £15. Swaps to larger or smaller bins are only carried out for operational reasons as determined by the Council's Streetscene Team.
Kitchen Caddy - We have a supply of kitchen caddies that are available for collection, free of charge (one per household). Please contact us if you would like to receive one.
Properties without wheeled bin provision
Some properties in the district (including flats and some terraced houses) do not have provision for wheeled bins. Instead, these properties can be provided with the following:
- Refuse - Rolls of black sacks are distributed annually in the autumn. Up to 3 sacks can be put out for collection
- Recycling - Black recycling boxes are provided on request. These are free of charge and can be collected from the Council office in Stratford
- Garden Waste - Up to 6 green sacks can be put out for collection.
- Food waste - A kitchen caddy can be requested if you have not already received one. These are free of charge and can be collected from the Council office in Stratford.
Putting bins out for collection
Please place wheeled bins (or equivalent receptacles) at your property boundary with their lids down, clearly visible to the collection crews, by 6.00am on your collection day.
Extra waste
If you have additional recycling, you can place in it a box or rigid container next to your blue-lidded wheeled bin for collection.
If you only have one green / green-lidded wheeled bin, you can place up to 3 green sacks of additional garden waste next to your green / green-lidded wheeled bin for collection.
Please note: No additional general waste (refuse) placed by or on your grey refuse bin will be collected.
You must notify us of a missed collection within two working days of the collection day for your missed collection to be rectified before your next scheduled collection. Please ensure you leave your bin at the normal collection point for rectification.
An assisted collection service is provided to residents who are unable to leave there wheeled bins (or recycling boxes / sacks) in the normal location on the property boundary for collection. Please contact the Council for details.
A clinical waste collection service is provided to residents who require it (subject to confirmation by a medical practitioner). Please contact the Council for details.
