Studley is a large village with a population of 6700. The triangular-shaped village sits within the Green Belt in the Forest of Arden area of the Stratford-on-Avon District, a few miles south of Redditch.
The origins of Studley can be found in the remains of a 7th century farmstead and Saxon settlement on land cleared from the Forest of Arden just to the East of the River Arrow, and close to where now stands the Norman Parish Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. The growth of Studley to its present size was based on development in the needle industry which flourished in the area from the mid 17th century onwards.
