Stratford-on-Avon District Council is keen to promote new recycling initiatives.
efreeko.co.uk
efreeko.co.uk is a website where people give things away rather than selling them. People are able to charge postage and packing for an item if it is available nationally, or just advertise it as free for local pickup. The underlying aim is to try to reduce the amount of items which could be recycled but end up at landfill sites every year.
The site has only been going since December 2006 and has over 1350 members with 470 items being recycled. (as of 25th April 07) So far items such as web cams, handheld PCs, children's clothes and videos, baby items etc have found new homes.
The website is a non-commercial site which is currently offering free advertising, by way of rotating banners on the home page, to charities who apply.

CommunityFreebay.co.uk
In Warwickshire and Coventry many of the things which we throw away as 'rubbish' are in fact useful items which could be passed on to someone else.
If you have unwanted things which are just too good to tip, and you don't want the hassle of trying to sell them, this website is sure to put you in touch with someone local who can put them to good use. You can also browse a large variety of items advertised by other people, and get them for free if that's what you need.
This website allows you to contact people by e-mail to give or receive free things. Once you've made the link it's up to you to arrange collection / delivery with the other person.

The Freecycle-Network™ is made up of 4,109 groups with 3,862,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free.
