Waste reuse

Do you have something that you no longer need but that could be useful to somebody else?

If so, you may wish to consider one of the following options before recycling it, ordering a bulky waste collection or sending it to landfill.

Community furniture reuse schemes

There are a number of local voluntary community furniture reuse schemes set up to benefit disadvantaged people by redistributing refurbished furniture resources. They provide free collection of reusable furniture and household items.

Advertise in your local paper / shop

Place an advert in the local paper or in a newsagents, village shop or supermarket.

Community reuse websites

There are a number of not-for-profit community reuse websites such as Freecycle or Freebay on which you can offer unwanted items for free.

Car boot sales

Local car boot sales are ideal opportunities for passing on lots of items that you no longer need. Information on car boot sales is available on the internet and in local newspapers.

Charity donation

Local charity shops are always on the look out for items that can be resold to raise money for worthy causes. Sacks are often delivered to households for any unwanted items (especially clothes) so you may wish to support these.

Reuse shops at Household Waste and Recycling Centres

A reuse shop is located at Warwickshire County Council's Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Burton Farm, Bishopton in Stratford. Unwanted items can be taken to the shop where the staff will gratefully accept them if they feel they can be sold on to raise money for St Michaels Hospice.

Please note: There are vehicles and trailer restrictions at these sites.

Charity textile / shoe banks

Independent charity textile and shoe banks are provided at a number of Recycling Centres in the district.

Please note, this is just an example of some of the options, charities and community websites that you may wish to consider. Others are available
