Why should we recycle?
Recycling conserves resources - Recycling allows used materials to be converted into new products, reducing the need to use new natural resources.
Recycling saves energy - Reusing recycled materials in manufacturing uses considerably less energy than is required for extracting and processing new products from raw materials.
Recycling helps protect the environment - Recycling reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials all of which create pollution. As recycling saves energy it also reduces carbon emissions, which helps to tackle climate change.
Recycling reduces landfill - By recycling, we reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites.
