The Stratford-on-Avon district has been successful in developing an enterprise culture in recent years. Unemployment levels are typically only 1% and there are 41,973 full-time equivalent jobs in the district. At this time, there are 5,900 VAT registered businesses and a high level of self-employment at 12.6% of all jobs.
The district is home to a large proportion of small and medium sized businesses, but also contains larger employers such as Land Rover / Aston Martin, NFU Mutual and AMEC.
Specific enquiries from businesses on - for example - planning, environmental health, business rates or trading standards issues should be directed to the relevant departments at the District or County Council.
Shipston Business Start-up: Stour Power supports projects which will attract quality new businesses to the area which will benefit the local economy. The business start-up programme is an example of such a project.
