As one of the health and safety enforcing authorities we are very aware of how confusing health and safety legislation can appear. In addition with so many small businesses falling to local authority enforcement contact with ourselves is likely to be limited. We are keen to improve our communication with small businesses and ensure information is available prior to or in lieu of contact by way of an enforcement visit.
Attached is a self assessment questionnaire which we hope will give you a feel for how your company is performing in relation to compliance with health and safety laws. The questions cover many of the areas which would be examined during an inspection. If some questions within the form reveal areas which you feel you could improve on or would like more advice on please contact the public protection team.
