Licensing Act 2003

On the 24^th of November 2005 the Licensing Act 2003 came into force and permissions granted under the old licensing regimes became null and void. Therefore a Premises Licence (and Personal Licence in the case of sale of alcohol) or Temporary Event Notice (TEN) must be in force at any venue where licensable activities are to take place.

POINTS TO NOTE

• The new Premises Licence replaces the old Liquor Licence, Public Entertainment Licence, Theatre Licence, Cinema Licence and Late Night Refreshment Licence.
  
  
• Take-aways and restaurants serving hot food after 11.00 pm will need a Premises Licence
  
  
• A registered members club certificate has been replaced with a Club Premises Certificate.
  
  
• A Justice's Licence no longer exists and must have been converted into a Personal Licence.
