The Local Futures Audit has been developed in collaboration with the Audit Commission, the Local Government Association, and individual local authorities and partnerships. The basic thrust of the Audit is to compare and benchmark the performance of Stratford-on-Avon against each district in Britain and against Coventry & Warwickshire and the West Midlands region. Performance is assessed according to how well the district scores on a range of carefully selected benchmark indicators of economic, social and environmental well-being.
As part of the consideration of Stratford-on-Avon's economy in terms of its competitiveness at the sub-regional, regional and national levels, five aspects of economic performance, each with their own benchmark indicators, are utilised:
