Local and Central Government often run business grant schemes – these are normally targeted to tackle certain goals (i.e. to encourage job creation or innovation) and require you to hit specific requirements.

The advantages of such grants are that they are often non-repayable, provide cashflow that's hard to get elsewhere, enhance business credibility, help you take risks, test new ideas, and make upskilling and new recruits more affordable.
